SECTION C QUESTIONS 1
Reading comprehension
Carefully read the following passage and answer the question. That follow. Katy (not her real name) is a young fashion designer who draws inspiration from traditional West African fabrics and clothing, as well as from the fashions of New York. She has created a label that produces modern interpretations of the togho, which is the hand woven garment from Cameroon's Western highlights region. For Katy, this whole adventure started as a hobby. She says, "I have been nurturing my dream, which started as a hobby, for a long time. I always saw my love for designing as a hobby and it never occurred to me that It could be a career. Indeed, no one in my family would have considered this as a suitable career fo- a well- educated girl from a respectable family! As expected by my family, I studied at university and successfully graduated with two degrees. "But while I was studying, I was expanding my skills in design and dressmaking and exploring my passion for fashion. Then one day, while I was at work, things changed for me. I was wearing one of my own dresses, made from hand-woven fabric. A shopper approached me and asked where she could buy a dress like mine, and then she ordered one. My hobby was about to become a career. I had to fine-tune my skills and work hard, but I have had great success and my label has won awards and been featured in magazines and online articles. My Facebook page even crashed under the weight of comments at one stage! The recognition has been amazing. I just feel overwhelmed and humbled. "I have been able to raise the money I need to set up a fair- trade garment manufacturing plant in my country of birth- Cameroon. The plant will produce the highest quality garments exclusively for my New York label. "I can hardly believe how far my hobby has taken me. It is a huge honour for me and my country" QUESTIONS: 1) Propose a tittle for this text and justify your answer. 2marks
